John E. Love, the only son of John Love, was born at his father's home on Lanes Prairie July 2, 1844, and grew to manhood there. Shortly after attaining his majority he married Cynthia A., daughter of Augustus Pinnell, who was born in this county May 8, 1848. They lived some fifteen years on the land he acquired from his father's estate and land adjoining, moving to Vichy at or shortly after that town was founded in 1880. His widow survived until November 22, 1930.

Of the seven children born to them, six are still living: Ina, wife of J. O. Bassett, lives at Vienna; Clarence owns and lives on parts of his father's and grandfather's home places on Lanes Prairie; Minnie is the wife of Albert B. Shinkle of Amarillo, Texas; Charles lives in Colorado; and Rainey in northwestern Kansas; Essie, now Mrs. Essie Weber, lives in Minnesota. The remaining son, Robert Lee Love, is dead; he is survived by his two daughters by his marriage with Della, widow of D. N. Gardner; Mayme, wife of Earl Butler of Granite City, and Bertha, wife of William Motl, of Vichy. One son, Elbert, now in St. Louis, was born of his second marriage to Nellie Duncan, who is also dead.
