FUNERAL OF MISS HAZEL DAVENPORT

The funeral of Miss Hazel DAVENPORT was held in the Mount Harris Community church last Sunday afternoon at one o'clock. The church was full of young and old, who came expressing their sympathy to the bereaved relatives of this young Christian girl who had bravely fought a life's battle in a few short years. Her life had been a battle, made more real than most of ours, because of the death of her mother when she was a mere baby.

She was born in Kensee, Kentucky, February 12, 1910. She went to the home where there is no night at 6:30 a.m. December 8. Miss DAVENPORT had been living with her sister, Mrs. A. W. SMITH of Mt. Harris, since October 18. Besides Mrs. SMITH the deceased heaves a father, three sisters and two brothers in the east, who mourn with the many new friends she made in her short stay here.

Hazel was a faithful member of the Baptist church, had a record of 56 Sundays without an absence from Sunday school and really lived her religion every day.

Rev. Royden D. Zook, pastor of the Mount Harris Community church, preached from the text, "Be Ye also Read," honoring her practical Christian character. The choir sang "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere," Rev. and Mrs. Zook sang, "Iw Will Sing the Wondrous Story," and Mrs. Sloan sang "No Night There," as requested songs. The burial was at Steamboat Springs cemetery, where Rev. Zook sang "Does Jesus Care?" and read the Christian committal.
