PROMINENT FARMER ANSWERS CALL

At 3:30a. m. .Sunday, John A. Holm, a well known farmer of Severance passed to the Great Beyond after a lingering illness of over three years.

He was taken ill in October 1911 and since that time has declined gradually, his condition varying at times. He suffered of complicated diseases of the stomach from which he was unable to find relief. During the past year he was very ill at times and suffered considerable pain and but for his strong constitution, death would have come sooner. He bore his sufferings with great patience and never complained. During the last week of his life he suffered very little and death came to him peaceably.

John Holm was born in Skara, Westergötland, Sweden on July 30, 1869 and was 45 years, 4 months and 13 days of age at his death. He came to this country in May 1891 and after a visit in Rockford, Ill., came to this place and worked for J. A. Carlson, whose farm is now rented by C. B. Lindquist. Since then he worked at different places in Severance and later bought a small farm near Winthrop.

He was married on December 7th, 1901, his wife being a daughter of the late Lars Larson. They resided on the Larson farm a number of years and then moved to his farm near Winthrop where they resided three years. Five years ago he bought the Frederick Peterson farm in Severance and resided there since.

Five children were born to them, three of whom are dead and besides his wife and two daughters, Edith, 11 years old, and Ethel, 8 years old, he leaves four brothers to mourn his departure. Two live in Sweden and Oscar and Gustaf in this country, the latter having stayed at the Holm home the past number of years.

The funeral will be held tomorrow, Saturday afternoon at 12:30 from the home and burial will be made at the Clear Lake Baptist church. Rev. Bergquist of St. Paul will officiate.

The Gazette joins in extending sympathy to the bereaved.
