Son of Henry Snoots and Nancy Filler, who came to Ohio from Loudoun County, Virginia not long before he was born. Predeceased by his wives Catherine Wolford and Mary Jones, and by all his children-Estella Swain and John, Edward and Charles. He was survived by his son-in-law Alonzo Swain, 5 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and sisters Emily Bainter and Sarah Harress. Blacksmith, Roseville postmaster and Civil War veteran of the 160th Ohio Volunteer Infantry Co. E and the 191st Ohio Infantry Co. D. He remained involved in local veteran organizations the rest of his life and was also a Mason. At the time of his death he resided at the Johnson Hotel in Dresden, and died suddenly of heart trouble while taking a morning walk in that town.
