He resided in Ransom County, North Dakota & was a member of the North Dakota National Guard prior to the war.

His National Guard unit was called into full time active Army service on April 1, 1941, prior to the war, from Lisbon, North Dakota. He was noted, at that time, as being employed as a Architect and also as Single, without dependents.

Hadley was declared "Missing In Action" during the war.

He was awarded the Air Medal with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster and the Purple Heart.
