Pvt. Merlin T. Gore
Killed in Accident on
Luzon May 28th
Pvt. Merlin T. (Schoefield) Gore,37,truck driver,
son of Mrs.Eva Gore,Boscobel,died May 28 in
Luzon as results of injuries received in a vehicle
accident according to a telegram received by his
mother from the Secretary of War. In an explanatory
letter she received from the government,in stated
that Pvt. Gore was critically injured on May 22 at
6:30 a.m.near San Faban,Luzon,when the truck
he was driving was involved in a collision and he
sustained extensive abdominal injuries which
produced internal hemorrhage,and he received
chest and heart injuries also.An operation was
performed and blood transfusions given in an
effort to save his life.
Pvt.Gore entered service July 23, 1942 and had
been across serving in the Pacific area for one
year and five months.
His father,Bert Schoefield preceded him in death
a year ago.
