Son of John and Mary Ann Oddy (nee Crossley - married in 1881 at St Edmunds Church, Falinge. Lived at 2, Princess Street, Castleton, Rochdale. Brother of Martha Ellen, Walter, Emma, Rachel, Thomas, Annie and Janey.

Enlisted at Rochdale. Formerly Trooper G/4896 21st Lancers. Commemorated on family grave at Rochdale Cemetery, Lancashire.

Formerly employed as a shoemaker.
