The death certificate shows his burial site as Eastern Cemetery but his tombstone has never been found, nor that of his wife Mary Ann (Halpin) Dean. On 24 May, 1861, at Dixon, Illinois, shortly after the first call for troops, Bartley enlisted in Company H, 13th Regiment Of Illinois Infantry Volunteers (Union), and served until he was mustered out on 18 June, 1864, at Springfield, Illinois. He was honorably discharged. After marrying Mary Ann on 5 July, 1865, they went to Michigan City, Indiana, for a short period of time, and then on to Jeffersonville, Clark Co., Indiana, to make their life together. they had seven children. Even though I have Bart and his wife, Mary Ann, shown buried in Eastern Cemetery, I actually think there is a 90% chance that they "may" instead lie in St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery as I just found out that the Catholic Cemetery used to be known as part of Eastern Cemetery...
