Obituary in The State, Columbia, SC, 10 Mar 2006: Columbia - Funeral service for O. Ray Lindler, 82, of Columbia, will be 2 o'clock Saturday, March 11, 2006, at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church with The Rev. Anne Christiansen and The Rev. Dr. Herman R. Yoos officiating. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Lin Longshore, Pat Longshore, Glenn Wessinger, Preston Lindler, Michael Lindler, Jacob Lindler. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 Friday evening at Shives Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1323 Winyah Drive, Columbia, SC 29203. Mr. Lindler, widower of Lorhee B. Lindler, died Tuesday, March 7, 2006. Born in Chapin, SC, he was a son of the late Preston B. and Lola Monts Lindler. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was a veteran of WW II having served in the Pacific Theater. After the war, he went to work with Dixie Home Stores (Winn Dixie), then Edisto Farms Dairy (Coburg Dairy), and Shealy Sales & Vending, before beginning his own vending business. He later worked and retired from Goodman Institution of the S.C. Dept. of Corrections. Mr. Lindler was a member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, the Lutheran Men, and the Sunshine Group. He and his late wife enjoyed being part of the Dutch Square Walkers. Survivors include his children, Michael R. and wife, Linda M. Lindler, of Cayce, Timothy L. and wife, Gwynn Lindler of Cornelius, NC, J. Keith and wife, Sabra C. Lindler, of Columbia; grandchildren, Michael R. and wife, Allyson Lindler, Jr., Wendy and husband, Joseph Rojas, T. Preston Lindler, Hilary J. Lindler, Jacob Lee Lindler, Breanna Lindsay Lindler, Marissa Nicole Lindler; great-grandchildren, Rebecca Michelle Rojas, Elizabeth Joy Lindler; brother, Fred Lindler of Chapin; sisters, Roberta Longshore of Silverstreet, SC, and Callie Wessinger, of Chapin. Mr. Lindler was predeceased by a sister, Stella Lindler.
