Hester Royer Putman was born in Jefferson County, Tennessee on 17 December, 1815. She was a daughter of Charles Royer and Darcus Daniel. She married Anson Putman in Morgan County, Alabama on 27 Decemember 1832. Anson was the son of John Putman and Lucy Covington of Rutherford, North Carolina. He was born there. He traveled with his family to Morgan County, Alabama as a young child and was there before 1820. Anson was a Methodist Clergyman. Sometime in the early 1860s, he moved from Lawrence County, Alabama to Maury County, Tennessee. He died there on 25 March, 1865. Hester was listed as a widow in the 1870 Maury County, Tennessee census.
Hester and several sons moved west to settle in Texas about 1873. She and the kids were in Texas by 1874. Hester died in Navarro County, Texas on 23 April, 1895. Children of Anson and Hester were:
