His twin brother,Private Thomas Lister Cairncross also fell on the same day and he too was laid to rest in Anzio War Cemetery.He was also with the Gordon Highlanders,1st Bn. The London Scottish;Service No: 14620855.


They were the 19 year old twin sons of Hugh and Elizabeth Cairncross of Newburgh, Fife.
