The Deer Park community has lost one of its older residents in the death of Mrs. James BURKE, which occurred Monday morning after a short illness. Mrs. BURKE had lived in that neighborhood since she and her husband came to Routt county in 1909. After the death of her husband she continued to make her home there and kept house for her son, Frank.
Mary REED was born in Reading, Pennsylvania, January 15, 1862, and when a small child moved with her parents to South Bend, Indiana, where she grew to womanhood. In 1879 she was married to James J. BURKE.
The couple continued to make their home in South Bend until 1898, when they came to Colorado. In 1909 they moved to Routt county.
Surviving Mrs. BURKE are three children, Frank J. BURKE of Deer Park, Robert Reed BURKE, Craig; Mrs. Faye APPLEWHITE, Denver; five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, one brother and two sisters.
Funeral services were held this afternoon from the Heyer mortuary with Rev. Cecil P. Simpson of the Methodist church in charge. Burial was in the Steamboat Springs cemetery.
