Daisy Loomis BROWN, long-time resident of Steamboat, passed away November 3rd at Routt County Memorial Hospital following a long illness.
Born June 18, 1884 in Kansas, she traveled to Steamboat in 1909 to visit her sister, Mrs. A. H. POPPEN. Shortly after arriving, she met and married Amos R. BROWN, who was working with his uncle, Richard JONES, in the First National Bank of Steamboat. Several years ago, the BROWNs celebrated their golden wedding anniversary.
Surviving are the husband, Amos R.; one daughter, Anabeth, and one son Marvin, both of Steamboat; seven grandchildren, and one great-grandchild; three sisters, Tracy JARVIS of Great Bend, Kan., Grace WIERENGA of Cawker City, Kansas and Allie KENT of Falls Church, Virginia; one brother, Clarence of Mankato, Kansas.
Private services for the family were held at the Root Mortuary on Saturday, Nov. 5, with the Rev. Thomas Bennanzat conducting the short rites and Mrs. Everett Chesney playing the organ.
Grandchildren from out-of-town were Marsha, traveling with her baby from Midland, Texas, Lenore coming from Colorado Women’s College in Denver, Edward, now at Colorado University, and Stephen, now at Colorado College in Colorado Springs.
One nephew, Jay KENT, drove to Steamboat from Denver for the services.
Interment was at the Fairmount Cemetery in Denver.
