Killed in a flying accident on 8-6-1945 flying P-38J / #43-28393 / K6-'L' / No MACR. While on a routine flight from Y-52 (Nice, France) to the 474 FG base in Germany (R-2, Bad Langensalza), the aircraft crashed in bad weather in hilly terrain between the villages of Belmont and Belfosse in France, west of Strasbourg.
