Irene Lowe, age 72, longtime Sandhills resident, died March 28, 2008 in the Ogallala Community Hospital.

Irene was born October 17, 1935 in Hyannis, NE., the daughter of Edward and Thelma Zobel Becker. Irene received her early schooling at District #2, north of Ashby in Cherry County.

She graduated from St. Agnes Academy in Alliance and then returned to the family ranch.

On December 7, 1954 Irene married Jack Lowe, making their home three miles west of Whitman and later lived south of Hyannis. The couple moved into Arthur in 2001.

Preceding her in death was her daughter Sydney Lowe, a sister Delores Valentine and a brother William Becker.

Survivors include her husband Jack Lowe of Arthur, one daughter Terri and her husband Steve Dorran of Calgary, Canada. one grandson Wade Kramer and his wife Heather of Arthur and great-grandchildren: Knight and Kohl Kramer.

A brother Ed Becker and his wife Sally of Chadron. Four sisters: Arlene and husband Dick Minor, Sr. of Gordon; Maxine Morris of Phoenix, AZ; Darlene and husband Bud Bonifield of Cody, NE; and Charlene and husband Gary Hebbert of Nogal, NM; and numerous nieces and nephews.

There will be no visitation and the casket will not be open at the Funeral Service on Tuesday, April 1, at 1 p.m. in the Arthur High School gym. Rev. Ben Keene and Father Bryan Ernest will officiate.

Interment in the Hyannis Cemetery. A memorial has been established to the Callahan Cancer Center in North Platte.
