Achilles G. Davis


Achilles G. Davis, retired farmer died at 5:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Lena Shumate, 1720 South Lamine avenue, after an illness lasting three weeks, although he had been in failing
health for the past two years, following an attack of influenza.
Mr. Davis was born in Tennessee 69 years ago, and came to Missouri when one year old. Forty-one years ago he married Miss Lucy Maddox and since that time until four years ago had resided on a farm near Postal, Mo. He was a member of the Memorial Baptist church.
Surviving Mr. Davis is his daughter, two brothers, William B. and George W. Davis, both of Pleasant Green and one sister, Mrs. Alice Brookshire, of Pueblo, Colorado.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 o'clock Monday afternoon at the Union church and burial will be in the Union cemetery.
