Son of Samuel Goldstein and Helen (Ilona) Linder, Harry was born in Manhattan, and soon after his family moved to Newark, NJ.

Harry served as S/Sgt and Left Waist Gunner on a B-24H-15-FO Liberator named "Ford's Folly" (#42-52515), 754th Bomber Squadron, 458th Bomber Group (H), 8th Air Force, US Army Air Force based in England during World War II. He was not originally part of the air crew, but rather a member of Crew 74, 755th Squadron. When between missions, he volunteered for the Ford's Folly mission, and was placed as a gunner.

He enlisted in the Army Air Corps on Dec 16, 1941 at Newark, NJ. He was noted at being a machinist and single, with no dependants.

Harry was declared MIA when his B-24 was hit with flak and exploded over Lake Glindow, Werder (Havel), Germany on Mar 6, 1944. Out of the crew of 10, 2 were captured and held as POW's, 6 were KIA, and 2 were MIA.
