Norman served as a Staff Sergeant & Right Waist Gunner on B-17F "Angel's Tit" #42-3260, 349th Bomber Squadron, 100th Bomber Group, Heavy, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in Hudson County, New Jersey prior to the war.

Norman was declared "Missing In Action" when his B-17 was hit by a German aircraft 20 miles north of the Frisian Island and exploded and crashed into the North Sea during the war.

He was awarded the Air Medal and the Purple Heart.
