ONEONTA _ Alice Mitchell Blanton, 96, died Sunday, June 6, 2010, at the Fox Memorial Nursing Home, Oneonta.
Born March 28, 1914, in Meredith Township, she was the daughter of John and Lulu Bolles Mitchell.
Alice was the widow of Herbert Blanton who died in May 1978.
She is survived by seven of her eight children, Lynn and his wife, Beth of Archbald, Pa., John of Woodlawn, Tenn., Elizabeth Doroski of Davenport, Edward of East Meredith, Margaret Lincoln and her husband, William of Wurtzboro, Thomas and his wife, Sonia of Orlando, Fla., Robert of East Meredith; a daughter-in-law, Evelyn Blanton of Eustis, Fla.; and many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and friends.
Alice was preceded in death by a son, William; two grandchildren, Jacqueline Blanton and Eric Driggs; three sisters, Frances, Flora and Belle; five brothers, Floyd, Albert, Leonard, Thomas and Lauren Mitchell; a son-in-law, Francis Doroski; and a daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Blanton.
A memorial service will be held for Alice at 1 p.m. Friday, July 30, 2010, at the East Meredith Presbyterian Church. Interment will be in the East Meredith Cemetery. The Rev. Carol Wilson will preside.
