Casualty of the Great War,Cecil was a Second Lieutenant in the 8th Battalion, Queen's Own (Royal West Kent Regiment).He was Killed in Action aged 20.He was educated at Haileybury College.

He is one of the four Baring brothers who fell.They were sons of the Rev. Francis Henry and Amy Baring,of "Marchdyke" Chandlers Ford, Hampshire.
Their father was listed as a Rector in Suffolk in 1896
