Their children are James Hancock, Ernest Justus Hancock, Edwin Ammon Hancock, and Lily Hancock Thornhill. Additional reported children are William, Robert, Benjamin, Ammon Jr and Emma Hancock. Ammon was a prominent citizen and properous tobacconist in Lynchburg. With his nephews, and later with sons, he conducted tobacco manufacture under the names Hancock Bros & Co, Hancock & Sons, Hancock & Kinnier, and Hill City Steam Tobacco Works.
