Lloyal Miller Jr. died near the Germany/Luxembourg border in World War II in the Battle of the Bulge. Lloyal died fighting the last major Nazi offensive in WWII as a private Co. G 304 Infantry, part of the 76th division. He was a great grandson of Jacob and Naomi Fero Miller and John S. and Zeruia Grandy Mount Van Patten. He was less than 23 years of age and was married less than 2 years to Eleanor L. Hickok when he died. He has a memorial at Perth, NY as well provided by the US government. Lloyal is my maternal second cousin and I visited the grave on a rainy afternoon on October 15, 2012. The custodian was very helpful leading me to the grave and explaining Lloyal's position when he died and other battle information. He spread wet sand on the grave lettering to make the letters visible and then washed the sand off before we left. Either this grave or the one in NYS is a cenotaph and he is buried in the other.
