Mrs. Ansell was born in Knotts Island, N.C. She was a member of Laurel Avenue Church of Christ and was the widow of Carlton W. Ansell.
Survivors include three daughters, Louise A. Smith and Edna M. Carter, both of Virginia Beach, and Margaret A. Everton of Norfolk; a son, William R. Ansell Sr. of Suffolk; 14 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday in Laurel Avenue Church of Christ by the Rev. Rupert R. Wallace. Burial will be in Riverside Memorial Park. Friends may join the family from 7 to 8 p.m. today in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Indian River Chapel.
