Louise Emily Ansell was the daughter of Carlton W. Ansell and his wife Bertha Morris. She was married to Haywood Washington Smith on January 17, 1936 in Princess Anne County, Virginia.

Our Heavenly Father came with open arms on Nov. 21, 2003, and picked up his child Louise Ansell Smith and took her to her heavenly home. He looked into his "Garden of Life" and saw that she had fulfilled her life on Earth, and she was tired and weak. He said, "my faithful child and servant" it is now time for you to rest and to come home.
Mrs. Smith was born in Knotts Island, N.C., and was the daughter of the late Carlton W. Ansell and Bertha Morris Ansell. She was predeceased by her husband, Haywood W. Smith, three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She retired from the Navy Exchange at the Dam Neck Naval Base as a clerk. She was a member of Charity United Methodist Church since 1946 and the W.W. Dawley Sunday School class.
She is survived by three daughters, Wanda Markus, Janice Silcox and Joyce Kidd and husband Fred, all of Virginia Beach; a son, Larry P. Smith Sr. of Melbourne, Fla.; two sisters, Margaret Everton and Edna Carter, both of Norfolk; a brother, Ryland Ansell of Chesapeake; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren; and her loving dog, Tequila.
A funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Monday in Charity United Methodist Church by the Rev. William Mahon and the Rev. Walter Whitehurst. Burial will follow in Charity Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the social hall of the church after the service. The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, today from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the National Kidney Foundation. The family wishes their sincere gratitude to Dr. Barbara Gelpi, Davita First Landing Dialysis Center, and many thanks to her home healthcare nurse, Dolores Boxer. Smith and his wife, Mittie Smith - Emily Louise Ansell, age 18, born in Princess Anne County, Virginia and residing in Knotts Island [Currituck County], North Carolina, daughter of Carlton W. Ansell and his wife, Bertha Morris"
