Ray Jennings Jones, son of Isaac and Mary McCullough Jones was born near New Market, Iowa June 15, 1897. He was the youngest of a family of thirteen children. He departed this life September 29, 1969 at Muskogee, Oklahoma at the age of 72.
Mr. Jones lived the early port of his life in the New Market and Clarinda vicinity and was presently living at his home in Storm Lake, Iowa following retirement as occupational therapist at the Mental Health Institution in Cherokee, Iowa.
Mr. Jones was united in marriage to Lessie Linebaugh September 19, 1919. To this union one son was born, Ivan M. Jones of Muskogee, Oklahoma.
Following the death of Jessie Jones he was married to Esther Griffel September 27, 1959.
Mr. Jones enjoyed life to the fullest doing things for others and always willing to lend a helping hand. His hobbies of fishing and wood work handicraft also gave him great pleasure.
Besides a host of friends he leaves his wife, Esther, of the home; his son Ivan of Muskogee, Oklahoma; a stepdaughter Mary Griffel of Ann Arbor Michigan; a step-son Jack Griffel of Aspen, Colorado; three grandchildren; three great grandchildren. Also one brother Wilbur Jones of Clarinda, Iowa; three sisters, Mrs. Rhoda O'Dell, Chicago, Illinois; Mrs. Clara Baker, Gravity, Iowa and Mrs. Lola Luellen, New Market, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, six brothers; Ollie, Frank, Tom, Alva, Burt and Newt and two sister, Jennie Cooper and Minnie Knapp.
