Walter "Gene" Ragsdale of Miami, Oklahoma, age 64, passed away at home Saturday July 31, 2010.

Gene was born in Joplin, Missouri on December 1, 1945 to Ralph E. Ragsdale & Florence Eppright; grandson of Arthur & Lema (Taft) Ragsdale and Walter & Alma (Moore) Eppright.

He was raised in Commerce, until he moved to Picher in 1974 where he lived for 34 years.

He was a wonderful Husband, the greatest father and father-in-law anyone could ask for, devoted brother, loyal friend and most of all an adored Poppy. He was a veteran of the armed forces serving in the Army. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Commerce.

He is survived by his wife Sharon Ragsdale of the home; Two daughters Tracy Tucker of Miami, Jamie Mathews and husband Thomas of Miami; two foster sons Charlie Burk and Jacob Grintals; seven Grandchildren Zach, Tyler, Jimi Dawn, Tanner, Tori, Trace, and Thomas; three brothers, Jack Ragsdale and wife Linda, Steve Ragsdale, Jimmy Ragsdale and wife Mary; one sister Mary Yankowski, Sister-in-law Kathy Fouts, Eight nieces and nephews.

Gene is preceded in death by his parents Ralph and Flo Ragsdale; Brother-in-law Eddie Yankowski; Niece Mistie Dawn Ragsdale Kelley.

The family will receive close friends and family at the home from 5pm to 8pm Monday August 2nd. He will be laid to rest at Glen Abbey Cemetery in Miami on Tuesday August 3rd at 2pm. Arrangements are being handled by Paul Thomas Funeral Home in Miami.
