Born in house # 24, Mándok Szabolcs ~ my Magyar grand-mother emigrated to America from Hungary ... where she met and married a Serbian immigrant. She bore husband George nine American-born children.


As was their economic climate, families moved often - from one rented apartment to the next offering a free month's rental. They lived in both Manhattan and The Bronx boroughs of New York City.


In 1912, Elsie's fifth daughter was born prematurely and lived for only one hour.


Elsie and George lie near the grave of their daughter Margie who died at her own hand in 1947.


Their eldest daughter "Lee" met an untimely death. Lee's body was cremated, g-mother carried the urn of ashes with her for decades. In the end, the urn was secreted inside the foot of Elsie's casket and shall remain, forever, mother with daughter ...
