Helon worked most of her life in Columbus, Georgia, for Security Life Insurance, running their office, where she made many lifelong friendships. She was a loving sister and aunt to her family, and is missed dearly. Upon retiring in 1998, she moved to Buena Vista, Georgia, to her home on the property of Margaret George, her dear friend. Helon loved her family and especially all of her nephews, whom she treated like her own sons. She was especially close to her sister Ruth and her husband Sonny, whose ashes are scattered on her grave. Her lifelong friends, Bill and Ruth Roberts, lovingly care for her grave to this day.
