Professional Football Player. Born Robert Dale Fenimore, he attended Woodward High School (Oklahoma), and played collegiate football (halfback and defensive back positions) at Oklahoma A&M (now known as Oklahoma State University). While with the Aggies, he earned consensus All-American status twice, led the nation in total offensive yards with 1,758 in 1944, and was a key member of the squads that won the Cotton Bowl in 1944, and the Sugar Bowl in 1945. He was selected as the first overall pick by the Chicago Bears during the 1947 NFL Draft, and would appear in 10 games with them that season. Following his football career, he worked as an insurance agent. He was enshrined in the College Football Hall of Fame in 1972, and the Cotton Bowl Hall of Fame in 2007.
