Julia Alene Hollingsworth, born January 18, 1889, probably in Bartow County, was the daughter of George Asbury I, and Martha Hollingsworth. She had a blotchy "port-wine" birthmark that covered a good part of one side of her face.A surgeon passing through her town offered to remove it, but her father would not allow it, and it was actually a part of her. She called it her "beauty mark". She was my beloved grandmother and we children hardly noticed it.She was destined for a life of tragedies. On December 25, 1907, she married Robert Lipscomb, whom she eventually divorced in an era when there were few divorces. They had Six children, but the baby, Nancy Catherine, died before she was a year old, and James (Jamie) was hit and killed almost instantly by a truck as he pulled a wagon loaded with newspapers to be delivered. the other children were Carmen Lee, Robert Burns, Ruth, and George. She lived a life of service to others as a nurse. Her children were devoted to her and she to them.Around 1940 she married Albert Edwards. In 1946, she developed uterine cancer and died in October, 1947. She was a devout Christian and faithful to the Mt. Carmel Church where the Rev. Charles Kerr was her pastor and conducted her memorial service.
