Margaret Hamburg arrived in the US in 1903, she and her family traveled from her place of birth in Frank, Russia (a german colony established in Russia). They came to America and settled in Hastings, Nebraska. Margaret worked for the Kipp Cigar Company at age 13. She married her cousin, Conrad Hamburg, in 1915 in Gering.
1976 Star Herald-A funeral for Margaret, 78, who died on Thursday in Scottsbluff hospital, will be held at 10 a.m. in Boley-Dennis Gering Memorial Chapel with the Rev. S. Theo Becker officiating.
A memorial has been established to West Nebraska General Hospital.
Mrs. Hamburg was born Aug 7, 1897 in Russia. She moved to Hastings with her parents in 1903 and had resided in Gering since 1914.
Survivors include her widower, Conrad of Gering; sons Henry of Lincoln, California, John, Ben and Edward, all of Hardin, Montana, Harold of Vancouver, Washington, Willard of Sacramento, California, Howard of Bemidji, Minnesota, Tom of Corvallis, Oregon, Albert of Torrington, Wyoming, LeRoy of Minatare, Nebraska and Daniel of Gering, Nebraska. Daughters, Mrs. Lucille Hood of Walla Walla, Washington, Mrs. Gene Crist of Philomath, Oregon, Mrs. Ben Sieb of Gering, Nebraska. Mrs. Harvey Hergenrader and Mrs. Conrad Adams, both of Scottsbluff; sister Mrs. Mary Bauer of Sidney, Nebraska; 38 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by one son.
