Family History:

My great-grandmother,Lillie, was born in Michigan, the daughter of David Darwin and Leah D. (Spring) Draper. Lillie lived in Calwood, Missouri since a small child. She and Sam farmed and had a large farm south of Calwood. The house is still standing but has been remodeled. Sam lost the farm during the depression.

Lillie died in a St. Louis Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri while undergoing a gall bladder operation.

The body of Mrs. Samuel Craighead of near Calwood, who died Wednesday in the St. Louis Babtist Sanatorium, following an operation for a tumor, was brought to Fulton on the morning train Thursday and taken to Ebenezer Babtist Church west of Calwood, where funeral services were held, Reverand J.A. Taylor officiating. Burial was in the church cemetary there.

Samuel Craighead and Lillie Draper were married in Callaway County in a double wedding with her sister, Josephine "Josie" and Sam Jones, on January 15, 1888.

Mrs. Craighead is survived by her husband, one daughter, Mrs. Lela Williams of St. Louis, Missouri; one grandson, Samuel Leslie Strait and a grandchild due in July; a brother, Elsworth Draper and a sister, Josephine Jones.

Mrs. Craighead was preceded in death by her parents and three granddaughters, Lucille Marie, Leta May and Hazel Marie.

In the next four years three more grandchildren were born, Thomas Stanley born July 6, 1917, Eddie Ray in March 17, 1919 and Clarise Dean Williams in September 22, 1921.
