Son of Revolutionary War veteran PETER (Pvt.) ZIEGLER/ZEIGLER Sr 1760 – 1819 and JANE EVE DAWSON 1760 – 1802
"George Ziegler, the fourth of Peter Ziegler Sr's children, was born in Baltimore Co. Maryland, March 31, 1795. He came to Center Co. with his parents about 1810. About 1825, he removed to Venango Co. Later he went to Iowa (ERROR, should say Ohio]. Some of the family remained in Venango Co, others live in Warren, Pennsylvania, Mr Ziegler married Catharine Murray, b. Apr 16, 1794, sister of Mary Murray, wife of his brother Michael Ziegler. The Murrays are of English descent. The Murray sisters had two bothers, George and William, who served in the War of 1812, one at least, serving with Commodore Perry on Lake Erie. Their father was Levi Murray, a tanner. George was the father of William A Murray, Esq. of Boalsburg, Pennsylvania a Member of the House of Representatives, 1880-81. George Murray was born 10 March 1791, died !3 Sep 1878"
