Agnes Liles, 91, of Arlington and formerly of Killeen, passed away in Arlington on Friday, July 23, 2010. Funeral: 10 a.m. Wednesday in Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home Chapel in Killeen with Deacon Eugene Morse officiating. Interment: Killeen City Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials: The family requests that memorials in Mrs. Liles' memory be made to Harker Heights Library. Mrs. Liles was born Jan. 11, 1919, in Sinton to Richard and Cecile Kunitz. She retired from the Killeen Independent School District with 40 years' service in education and also retired from the Harker Heights Library. She was one of the founding forces of the library and after retirement, was active in mentoring children in public schools in the area and in Arlington. She was reared and educated in Sinton and attended college in San Antonio. She was a life member of the Kiwanis Club of Arlington and a member of the Arlington Story League. She was a faithful member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William "Bill" Liles, on Sept. 5, 1997; brothers, Marshall, Ralph and Richard Kunitz; and grandson, Bryan Liles. Survivors: Sons, Bill Liles and wife, Annette, of Georgetown, Michael Liles and wife, Cathy, of Harker Heights and Dr. Richard Liles and wife, Elaine, of Largo, Fla.; daughter, Cecile Martin and husband, William, of Arlington; brother, Tony Kunitz of Sinton; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
