Mitchell Gore, 60, Atchison, died unexpectedly June 14 at the Atchison hospital, where he had been a patient since Monday night.
Funeral services were at the Stanton chapel Thursday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Wiley Latham officiating. Interment was in the Monrovia cemetery.
Mr. Gore was born May 12, 1906 at Leitchfield, Ky., a son of Jack and Adeline Ashley Gore. He attended school at Leitchfield and later moved to Louisville, Ky., where he was employed as a railroad worker until he moved to Kansas in 1929, and began work as a farm hand at Monrovia. In 1934* he married Evelyn E. Nottingham of Monrovia.
He purchased a farm at Monrovia in 1943 and worked the land there there until 1961, when he moved to Atchison where he has been employed by the Rockwell Manufacturing Co., LFM-Atchison division, the past 15 years.
Mr. and Mrs. Gore attended the Monrovia Methodist church.
Survivors include his wife of the home: three daughter, Mrs. Bill (Mary Jane) Ellerman, Nortonville, Mrs. Dan (Shirley) Ernzen, Potter, and Mrs. Larry (Virginia) Kloepper, Huron; two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Shelton, Louisville, Ky., and Mrs. Myrtle Stone, Los Angeles, Calif.; a brother, William Gore, Louisville, and 10 grandchildren.
Mr. Gore was a devoted husband and father and especially enjoyed the company of his grandchildren. He loved the outdoors and spent many hours walking in the woods near his farm. He will be missed by many friends in the Atchison and Monrovia communities.
*Actually married in January of 1936.

Last Saturday Judge Turner performed the marriage ceremony of Mitchell Gore and Evelyn Nottingham, both of Monrovia, Kansas. They were en route to Kentucky.

Funeral services for Mitchell Gore, 310 R Street, who died Tuesday morning at the Atchison hospital, were held today at 2 p.m. at the Stanton chapel with the Rev. Wylie Lathan officiating. Interment was in the Monrovia cemetery. Pallbearers were Gilbert Hawk, Mike Nottingham, David Nottingham, William Sharp, Earl Strine and Howard Stutz.

Mitchell Gore was born May 12, 1906 at Leitchfield, KY, son of Jack and Adeline Ashley Gore. He had three sisters, Myrtle, Hettie, Lizzie and two brothers, William J. and Guy R. Gore.
He purchased a portion of the Snyder farm in 1943 with his wife's parents purchasing the majority of the SJH Snyder farm. In 1945 he and Mrs. Gore purchased the Monrovia store and blacksmith shop from the Kuehnhoff family. They operated the store for nearly ten years and Mrs. Gore served as the Monrovia post master from that location. Mr Gore was an agent for US-13 Hybrid Seed Corn from the store as well.
