Former Resident Of Alfalfa Dies At Pawhuska
Funeral services for Lozade Gamel, Pawhuska, father of C. B. Gamel, Alfalfa, and a former resident of the Alfalfa community, were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, December 26, at the Alfalfa Baptist church with Rev. Ernest Gill, pastor, officiating. Burial was in the Alfalfa cemetery.
Gamel, 87, had been in failing health for some time. He apparently suffered a stroke shortly before his death Saturday, December 21, at his home in Pawhuska.
He was born February 10, 1876 at Gustene, Texas, son of Ben and Alice Gamel. He was married January 23, 1900, to Annie Kirkham at Olney, Texas. Three daughters and one son were born to them. One daughter, Mrs. Claudia Shram, preceded him in death as did his parents, three brothers and a sister.
The Gamels moved to the Alfalfa community in 1926 where they lived until they moved to Pawhuska in 1948. He had been a member of the Church of Christ since 1924 and was active in the church until his health failed.
He is survived by his wife of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Una Hart, Pawhuska and Mrs. Alva Pinion, Chickasha; one son, C.B. Gamel, Alfalfa; 17 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
