A Descendant of the Kartchner/Wilcox family of Philadelphia

For several years (1933-35), she wrote about the activities of her community, entitled "Stoney Point" in the Belleville Telegraph. Needless to say many of those mentioned were in her extended family: the descendents of John and Euphemia Krigline.

Obituary - Mrs. Mary Horkman
Mrs. Mary Ellen Horkman, 95, 440 Woodland, died Sunday in a Topeka nursing home. She formerly lived at 213 E 12th.

She was born Dec 19, 1879, at Belleville and later lived at Concordia before she moved to Topeka.

She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church, W.T. Sherman Women's Relief Corps No. 74, and the auxiliary of Spanish-American War Veterans, all at Concordia.

Her husband, Samuel H. Horkman, died in March, 1949.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs Lillie Elliott, Sterling, Colo., and Mrs. Nellie Awalt, Scandia; a son, Samuel J. Horkman, 1123 Monroe; 12 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and 16 great great-grandchildren.

Wall-Diffenderfer Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Concordia.

She was a member of the United Presbyterian church, W. T. Sherman Womans Relief Corps No. 74 and the auxiliary of Spanish-American War Veterans, all of Concordia.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel H. Horkman Horkman who died in March, 1949, two daughters and a grandson.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Lillian Elliott, Sterling, Colo., and Mrs Nellie Await, Scandia, a son Samuel J. Horkman, 12 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were held at Pleasant Hill cemetery in Concordia.
