Pleasant Marion Epperson was the son of Charles and Sarah (Cross) Epperson. He married Rhoda Barr on 1 January 1872. They had four children of whom two survived their father. On 31 October 1927, he married Winnie Pritchett.

He was survived by two children, J. W. Epperson and Mrs. Loa Hood both of McLeansboro, Illinois. He was also surved by five grandchildren, Terrace, Claude and Junior Epperson; Ernest and Virginia Hood; one great grandchild, Lloyd Epperson; three brothers, J. V. Epperson of Bluford, Illinois, R. E. Epperson of Delafield, Illinois & W. J. Epperson of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; and one sister, Elmyra Yates of Belle Rive, Illinois.
