Matie Alice Crowder, daughter of John and Lizzie Karnatz Schultz, was born April 17, 1891, south of Guide Rock, Neb., and passed away January 27, 1972, at the age of 80 years, 9 months and 10 days. She spent her entire life in the Guide Rock community.

She was married to James H Jennings August 16, 1911. To this union three children were born, Herbert, Gladys Mahon and Alyce Jones Wulf. Mr Jennings passed away March 26, 1944.

On September 12, 1950, she was united in marriage to James C Crowder.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, John, Andrew and Clyde; three sisters, Mary, Sophia and Julia, and one granddaughter.

She leaves to mourn her passing her husband, James C Crowder; one son, Herbert of Elgin, Neb., and two daughters, Mrs Gladys Mahon of Haigler, Neb.., and Mrs Alyce Jones Wulf of Guide Rock; two step-sons, Robert Crowder of Glasgow, Mont., two step-daughters, Mrs Reda Ritzman of Kalispell, Mont., and Mrs Bernetha Crawford of Tulsa, Okla; eight grandchildren, 10 step-grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren; sisters, Mrs Lucy Britton of Ravenna, Neb., and Mrs Emma Frey of Denver, Colo.; one brother Lloyd Schultz of Guide Rock; nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

The funeral service for Mrs Crowder was held at the United Methodist Church in Guide Rock at 2:30 o'clock on Sunday, Jan 30, 1972. Rev Evelyn Thompson and Mrs Connie Hunter sang for the service, with Mrs Shirley Hunter at the organ.

Pallbearers were, Paul Freehling, Jr., Richard Jennings, C James Jennings, Gerald Leidy, Tom Mohler, Donn Hansen.
