Cleotha Ford, 68, was called from labor to rest on July 12, 2010. She was born Sept. 28, 1941, the youngest of seven children, to proud parents Fanella and Arthur White in Forrest City, Ark. She was lovingly known by family and friends, from that day forward, as "Baby Girl."
At six weeks of age, she and her family relocated to Blythe. God was pleased when at an early age, Baby Girl accepted Him as her Lord and Savior.
Baby Girl was a member of St. Paul Baptist Church. She was active as a member of the Missonary Ministry until her health began to fail her.
Baby Girl attended local schools. While attending high school she met her lifemate Oscar Ford, also known as "Punkin." They were united in marriage on Dec. 22, 1958 in Quartzsite, Ariz. This union was blessed with two children, Tracy Yvette and Ricky Lynn.
While devotedly caring for her family, she still found time to work as a nursing assistant at Palo Verde Hospital and Blythe Convalescent Hospital.
After 20 years of working outside the home, Baby Girl became a homemaker. At home one of her favorite pastimes was to "scratch tickets." When asked to buy lottery tickets, those close to her, knew never to return without them. She even had family members mailing her "scratch tickets."
She was blessed with three grandchildren and developed a special bond with her granddaughter Keanna who was the love of her life and helped care for her during her illness.
Baby Girl leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Oscar Ford of Blythe; her daughter, Tracy Ford of Lancaster, Calif.; her son, Rickey Ford of Blythe; three grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Arthur, Jr. "Lil Arthur," Leanna, Veolar, Gladys "Toots," J.D. and Darnell "Tuck."
Services for Baby Girl were held at Frye Chapel on July 16, 2010. Her final resting place is at Palo Verde Cemetery.
