Employee of Local Plant Dies Suddenly
Funeral at Geneva Thursday for Logan Baumgartner, 57
Logan S. Baumgartner, 57, R. R. 2, Geneva, died unexpectedly at 8:05 pm Monday shortly after being admitted to the Adams County Memorial Hospital. Mr. Baumgartner resided one mile southwest of Geneva and had been an employee of the Dunbar Furniture Company of this city for 28 years.
He became ill last Thursday with an attack of what appeared to be influenza. He was better Monday morning but became quite ill again late in the day. He came to the office of a local doctor where he was stricken and taken by ambulance to the hospital. Death is believed to have been caused by a heart attack.
Mr. Baumgartner was born in Chattanooga, Ohio September 16, 1912, a son of Louis and Odessa Campbell Baumgartner. He was married to Fayola Picket, who survives.
Also surviving are three sons, David of Waco, Texas; Michael, Kansas City, Kansas and Philip, Columbia City; six grandchildren and a brother, Earl Baumgartner, Geneva.
Mr. Baumgartner was a member of the Berne Church of the Nazarene.
The body is at the Hardy and Hardy Funeral Home where friends may call and where services will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday. Rev. Kenneth Hawkins of the Berne Church of the Nazarene will officiate and burial will be in the MRE Cemetery.
