Michael James Baumgartner, 56, of Kansas City, Mo., died Wednesday, May 11, at St. Joseph Hospital in Kansas City, Mo.Mr. Baumgartner worked as an occupational bio med technician for Truman Medical Center in Kansas City, Mo. He belonged to the Strothers Free Trappers Club and the National Muzzle Loaders Association.Born May 5, 1949, in Decatur to Logan Samuel and Fayola Pickett Baumgartner, he graduated from South Adams High School in 1967.He is survived by his mother of Berne; a companion, Gail Sackuvich of Kansas City, Mo.; a daughter, Tova Baumgartner of Geneva; two brothers, David B. Baumgartner of Waco, Texas, and Phillip Baumgartner of Perrysville, Ohio; three step sons, James Sackuvich III, Ronald Sackuvich and Robert Sackuvich, all of Kansas City, Mo.; and five grandchildren.Calling hours will be from 10 a.m. to noon Monday at Downing and Glancy Funeral Home in Geneva. Services will be at noon on Monday at the funeral home with Dr. Wayne Steury officiating. Burial will be at M.R.E. Cemetery in Berne.Preferred memorials to the American Heart Association.
