Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. at Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic for Mrs. Anton Petersen, 62, of Atlantic, former Anitan. Rev. Larry Garrett of the Atlantic First Church of Christ officiated. Mrs. Travis Marten accompanied Mrs. Steve Parrott as she sang "In The Garden" and "How Great Thou Art." Mr. and Mrs. George Petersen and Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Sanny were in charge of flowers. Casket bearers were Wilbur Brixius, Jack Camp, Eldon Dorsey, Gary Symonds, Keith Cooper, and Dan Frank. Interment was in Anita Evergreen Cemetery. Roland Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Velma Pearl Petersen, was born June 19, 1913, at Berea, the daughter of Lawrence and Angela Pearl Murphy Dorsey, and passed away Monday morning, July 14, at Cass County Memorial Hospital. She had been in ill health for some time. She attended school at Greenfield and came to the Anita vicinity when a young girl. She was married to Anton (Tony) Petersen at Maryville, Mo. She was a member of First Church of Christ. Surviving are her husband, a resident of the Atlantic Care Center; three daughters, Mrs. Bernard (LaVern) Martens of Griswold, Mrs. Earl (Roberta) Christensen of Fontarielle and Mrs. Howard (Judy) Paulsen of Brayton; two sons, Max and Jim, both of Atlantic; 14 grandchildren and a great grandchild; two brothers, Irwin Dorsey of Anita and Walter Dorsey of Coral Gables, Fla., and an aunt, Mrs. Laura Lattig of Macksburg, also nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Ernest Dorsey. -Anita Tribune, July 17, 1975
