Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, January 15, 1990, in the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Chapel in Edina, with the Rev. Ernest Deatrick of Wyaconda officiating. Music was provided by Mary Joy Sayres and Linda Banks with Carol Hayes, organist. Burial was in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, northeast of Edina.
The daughter of Daniel Grant and Luanna Jett Goodwin, she was born in Knox County on September 25, 1894.
On May 25, 1915, at Edina, she was married to Bruce Parrish and he preceded her in death on May 31, 1925. On November 20, 1941, she married Clarence M. Schempp and he preceded her in death on April 3, 1957.
She was also preceded in death by four sisters.
Surviving are three daughters, Jewel Shouse of Knox City and twins, Helen McCarty of Lewistown and Hazel Carper of LaBelle; two sisters, Velma Watson and Bertha Britton, both of Knox City; ten grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Schempp was a life-long resident of the Knox City Community where she attended rural school and the Knox City High School. She was a member of the Knox City Baptist Church.
Casket bearers were Mike Shouse, Alex Carper, Eric Carper, Mike Carper, Jeff Carper, Heith See and Tony TenEyck.
