Warrick County, Indiana, Friday, December 22, 1939 Boonville Standard Newspaper - Headline: Last Rites for Dr. Martin to be Held Today at 2 P.M.

Dr. Charles Franklin Martin, 53, one of Boonville's most prominent physicians, died suddenly of a heart attack at 8:15 o'clock Monday night at his country home, three miles north of this city. He had been a sufferer from a sick heart for several years but had called on some of his patients as late as 6:30 o'clock that evening, and the end came suddenly and as a distinct shock to the entire community.
Dr. Martin had practiced his profession here for more than thirty years and was well known throughout Warrick and the adjoining counties. He was born in Ohio township, Warrick county, Indiana, on June 2, 1886, and was a son of the late Charles Frederick and Mrs. Frances Martin. He received his degree from Louisville Medical College and practiced for a short time at Mackey before locating in Boonville.
In 1909 he was united in marriage to Miss Florinda Mae Day of Evansville, and to this union was born one child, a daughter, ten days after which the wife and mother passed away. He was married again later to Miss Adeline Matilda Louise Nordhorn, of Lynnville, and to this union four children were born. He was a member of the General Baptist church and the Warrick County Medical Society.
A man of the highest character and integrity, Dr. Martin was loved and respected by all who knew him. He was kind and considerate to everyone and did countless acts of charity which others knew nothing about. He was most loyal and attentive to his patients at the risk of his own health.
He leaves, besides his widow, two sons, Charles W. and George H. Martin of Boonville; three daughters, Mrs. Ruth Nelson of Boonville, Miss Ruby Martin of Evansville, and Miss Laura Martin of Chicago; three brothers, Claude C. Martin of Charleston, W. Va., George C. of Newburgh, and Warren W. Martin, Boonville; a sister, Mrs. Gertrude Hurst, of Jeffersonville; a grandson and several neices and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 'oclock this, Friday afternoon at the General Baptist church with Rev. J. C. Baker, pastor of the local church and Rev. Temas Taylor of Evansville, and Rev. Rodney Holder of Mt. Vernon, former pastors of the local church, officiating. The choir will sing "When They Ring Those Golden Bells for You and Me" and "Face to Face."
Burial will be in Maple Grove cemetery. The bearers will be James Bradshaw, Jack Nelson, Clifford Vote, Commodore Phillips, Dr. George W. Helmbock and Oakery Hendrickson.

The sad news of the death of Dr. C.F. Martin, which occurred at this home in Boonville, Monday evening, came as a shock to his many friends here. Dr. Martin was born and raised near Sharon, where he lived before he entered medical college. He was the brother of George Martin of here. We extend our sympathy to the bereaved family and relatives.
