OBITUARY :
JOHN W. STOOPS, 79, of North Church, street extended. Waynesboro. died at 4:15 Saturday afternoon at the Waynesboro hospital.

He was taken ill at 7:30 a.m., December 20, at his home following a stroke. He was admited to the hospital the same morning.

Mr. Stoops was born at Roadside, the son of Samuel and Julia (Reese) Stoops and lived his entire life in the vicinity of Waynesboro and for the last 33 years at his present residence. He learned the coremaker trade at Landis Tool company and was last employed, before his retirement in 1944, at Landis Machine company.

His wife, Cora Ellen Myers, died in 1937. He was a member of the First Christian church.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Harry E. Miller, at home; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Elsie E. Ziegler, Fairfield; a grandchild and two step-grandchildren. He was the last of a family of 17 children.

Funeral services today at 2 p.m. from the Grove Funeral home. Waynesboro, in charge of Dr. M. D. Jones. Interment in Burns Hill cemetery.
