Zoe was her name but she didn't like it and went by Joe or Josie. Had a cat named Etaw & a dog named Bugsy. She had a way with animals & nature. She was a very good artist & could draw anything with pencil & paper. She taught me how to draw horses & birds when I was young but my drawings weren't as good as hers. When I complained about the sore from my smallpox vaccination she told me I should feel lucky that it was only one sore spot, and that she & her first husband & baby had smallpox, & showed me scars all over her arms & her husband & baby died from it. She wrote nice poetry & some of her letters to my mother would rhyme. She was very devout and attended church almost every time their doors opened. I felt priviledged to be a pall bearer for her.
