Per the "Alcorn History", by Jamie Alcorn, privately published 1966:
""He [James Alcorn] and his wife were buried in the old Alcorn Cemetery, undoubtedly situated on a portion of his land. Marble slab headstones were placed at their graves. By 1965 it became apparent that these old markers would in the not-too-distant future become illegible, particularly Margaret's broken slab. As this small cemetery had no maintenance program, a decision was made by Dr. Walter M. Small, Messrs. Myles E. and James C. Alcorn, with the permission of other descendants, to remove the remains of James and Margaret Alcorn to the Fairview Cemetery which has a perpetual care fund. This task was done on July 27, 1965, and a single granite marker sets at their new resting place. Assistance on this project was also provided by Messrs. George B. and Raymond R. Alcorn of California. The inscriptions on the original headstones read as follows:
"James Alcorn, died May 10, 1835, aged 67 years."
"Margaret Alcorn, died December 20, 1835, age 65 years."
"At the time of the disintermant these markers were placed in the respective graves, and are about 18 inches from the surface. ' Please note: According to the age (65) cut on Margaret's original marker, she would have been born in 1770, and not in 1768, as is cut on the monument in Fairview Cemetery. Due to an early oversight this error came about."
