Janelle was born April 23, 1932. She grew up in Abernathy, Texas, where she met and married Paul Clay Bryant Aug. 23, 1951. They moved to Lubbock in 1953, where they raised three daughters, Debbie McPhail, Becky Puryear and Tami Estep and her husband, Rick; all currently reside in Lubbock. She was known as Mama Nell by her eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul, in 1994; her parents, Lewis and Alma Stambaugh; her sisters, Darlene Trimmier and Elouise Phillips of Lubbock; as well as her son-in-law, Brent McPhail, and ex-son-in-law, Dennis Puryear.
Janelle was a member of Lubbock Fellowship Baptist Church. She was employed by American State Bank for over 25 years until she retired in 1993 as an Assistant Vice President.
She was a beautiful woman who was loved deeply by her family and friends. She will live on in our hearts forever.
Family and friends of Mrs. Bryant will gather to celebrate her life of 78 years at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at Lake Ridge Chapel. Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers will host a visitation from 6 until 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
