Funeral services for Ernest William Barnum of Pendleton who died March 7, 1980, was held Tuesday, March 11th at Folsom-Bishop Funeral Chapel. Vault interment was at Olney Cemetery.
He was 84 years of age, born June 30, 1895 at Marshall, Minnesota. His parents were George Barnum and Anna (Vondark) Barnum.
Mr. Barnum came to Pendleton 47 years ago from Hermiston and Coos Bay. He farmed in Hermiston and was in the automobile business in Coos Bay. He started "The Barnum's Trading Post" in Pendleton 33 [47] years ago. He sold the trading post in 1976 and then retired. He was given an honorary life membership in the Pendleton Elks Lodge 288 in 1951 and was a Pat-Trustee of the Lodge. His first wife, Georgia preceded him in death in 1960; a daughter, Zelma E. McCool in 1972.
He is survived by his wife, Claire Barnum, Pendleton; grandson, Dan Barnum, Eugene; granddaughter, Sandra Nelson, Hazelton, Idaho; sisters, Ruth Wilson, Ashland and Neil Knapp, Portland; and several nieces and nephews. There are 2 great grandchildren.
Folsom-Bishop Funeral Chapel had care of arrangements.
